LUCKY Charley Ang’s longshot entry Di Ko Akalain, ridden by Class D Jockey B.M. Abe, scored a stunning upset victory over 10 other entries including the heavily favored Escolta in the 3rd Race of the WTA event that resulted in a solo-winner who became richer by over P2.868million last Wednesday at the PRCI’s Santa Ana Saddle & Clubs Leisure Park in Naic, Cavite.

Di Ko Akalain’s victory was met by a deafening silence by a small crowd here at my favorite OTB station but when somebody shouted “di namin akalain talaga“ it solicited much laughter and the crowd became very much alive again. That’s the spirit, if you can’t lick’em, join’em and that’s the way to enjoy the races.

Well, so much for the counseling, the final results that day from Races 1 to 7 respectively, are: Steel Creation, Benissimo, Di Ko Akalain, Royal Storm, Joint Account, Psst Taxi and Dancing Flower or combinations 2-711-6-5-6-9. Congrats to the lucky one winner.

Ang Pick-5 sa araw na ito covering races 2 to 6 ay nagbunga rin nang malaking dibidendong P42,361.80 each para sa holders ng 24 winning tickets.

Kahapon (Friday) naman, ang tanging WTA covering races 1 to 7, ay nagbigay lamang ng P7,408.60 each para sa 384 winning tickets ang Pick-5 (R2-6) ay P991.20 at ang Pick-4 P678.40.

Para sa kapakanan ng mga di nakadalo rito, ang mga winning entries dito from races 1 to 7 ay ang Salute To Heaven, All Exist, Open Slew, Ace Conveyance, May Dating, Live In Manila at Field Runner.

As usual, kasalukuyan pang binobola ang weekend races habang isinusulat namin ngayong Biernes itong ating pang Sabadong SILIP kaya wala pa tayong masabi tungkol dito.

Dito po sa Santa Ana gaganapin ang pinakahihintay na unang yugto ng Triple Crown Championship Series sa darating na May 20. Guaranteed prizes dito ay P1.8-million sa 1st placer, P675,000 sa 2nd placer, P375,000 sa 3rd placer ay P150,000 sa 4th placer plus Breeder’s purse of P100,000 to the breeder of the winning horse.

Starring last year’s Juvenile Champion and recent Chairman’s Cup winner Hagdang Bato at mahigpit nitong katunggaling Juvenile Champion at na-disqualify sa December 11 Juvenile Championship Race because of an infraction na Humble Riches versus Hagdang Bato.

Ang apat pang nominated entries dito na inaasahang magsisipagkumento pa ay ang Karapatan, Patron, Purple Ribbon at Steel Creation. Distance ng labanan ay 1,600 meters or 1 mile…Antabayan!!
