Pinay meted death in Malaysia

Manila, Philippines – A Filipina maid was sentenced to death by hanging this week for trafficking 1,126.9 grams of cocaine at the Puduraya Bus Terminal in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009.

Malaysia’s state-run news agency Bernama reported that Eliza Sans Gabrier, 45, was sentenced after her defense lawyers failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case.

Nine witnesses testified against the Filipina.Judge Datuk Mohd Sofian Abdul Razak noted that the defense’s argument focused only on denying the accusations. The judge thus ruled to hand her the capital punishment. (GMA News)
