Philippines voted among top three dive destinations in the world

Manila, Philippines – ONCE again, the Philippines affirmed its status as a dive destination in the recent Marine Diving Fir 2012 in Tokyo, Japan. It was ranked among the top three destinations together with Maldives and Palau.

Since 2006, the country has been included among the top five “Best Overseas Destinations“ and the top 10 “Dream Destinations.“ Selection for these awards is done through voting by subscribers of Japan’s Marine Diving Magazine. The Philippine booth in the fair was inspired by the DOT’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines“ campaign logo five aquariums and marine life paintings on the wall that drew crowds to discover what makes diving more fun in the Philippines.

The Philippines’ Blur Coral was named the top favorite dive operator for 2012, and Good Dive Shop among the top 10 in this category.

Japan was among the top three sources of foreign tourist arrivals visiting the country in 2011. The Marine Diving Fair is one of the largest diving and beach resort exhibitions in Asia which attracts over 50,000 visitors annually. This year, the event showcased 200 exhibitors from 50 countries.

The awards came shortly after the CNNGo website ranked the Tubbataha Reef in Palawan No. 8 and The Canyons in Puerto Galer No. 45 in its list of World’s 50 Dive Sites.

We congratulate the Department of Tourism, headed by Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez Jr., other Officers and Staff, the Philippine Dive Operators, on the Philippines’ being voted among the top three dive destinations in the world in the Marine Diving Fair 2012. We wish them all the best and success in all their endeavors. CONGRATULATIONS!
