The semifinal round of the 2012 National Open chess championships will be held on June 4-9 at the Philippine Sports Commission canteen inside the Rizal Memorial sports complex.
The Open will serve as one of the basis for the selection of the Philippine men’s and women’s teams in the 41st Chess Olympiad set late this year in Istanbul, Turkey.
The semifinals is organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) in coordination with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and sponsored by the City of Tagaytay, headed by Mayor Abraham “Bambol“ Tolentino.
The top six placers in the men’s division will join 12 grandmasters and the top eight placers in the women’s category will join the seeded six players from the 2011 Battle of Grandmasters in the finals.
