CEBU CITY, Philippines – The 100-year-old Fuente Osmeña Circle will soon get its needed rehabilitation as the provincial and city government are setting up a meeting with a businessman to discuss their roles in the park’s overhaul.
Governor Gwendolyn Garcia will be meeting with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and businessman Michel Lhuillier to discuss the rehabilitation of Fuente Osmeña Circle that has been stalled since the ground breaking in February because of opposition from the provincial government.
“It’s better to sit down and rest this issue out into the open and look for a common ground where we can work together,” Garcia said.
Garcia added she will always be supportive of Rama’s thrust of improving the Fuente Osmeña Circle which celebrated its 100th anniversary last February.
The governor further said she prefers enhancement of the “present architectural situation or ambiance” rather than developing the park as it will entail major changes and additional features.
Lhuillier and the Cebu City Government earlier inked a memorandum of agreement for the P13-million rehabilitation project of Fuente Osmeña Circle. However, the project has not been implemented yet since it broke ground last February 14, 2012. (Mars W. Mosqueda)
