Manila, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) gears up for the resumption of classes on June 4 through the annual “Oplan: Balik Eskwela” (OBE) from May 28 to June 8 and the “Brigada Eskwela” or the National Schools Maintenance Week from May 21 to 26.
According to Education Secretary Armin Luistro, the OBE and the Brigada Eskwela aim to ensure the smooth and orderly reopening of classes, particularly in public elementary and secondary schools nationwide.
“The OBE aims to address the problems commonly encountered during this period, particularly to assure that students are properly enrolled and able to attend school on the first day of classes,” said Luistro.
The DepEd, under OBE, will run a command center from its Central Office in Pasig City with central monitoring, information, and complaints offices. “The students, parents, teachers, and other concerned persons may drop by or call in with their complaints or concerns,” Luistro said.
