‘Budol-Budol Gang’ strikes anew

Philippines – A retired teacher lost P170,000 in cash and jewelry to suspected members of the “Budol-Budol Gang“ in Naguillian, La Union last Friday.

Police identified the victim as Lydia Soriano, 73, of Barangay Al-alinao Norte, Naguillian, La Union. Investigation disclosed that before the incident, the victim was walking near a church when two women and a man approached her.

The suspects talked to the victim and told her that they will increase her money at the soonest possible if she lends them cash. The suspects managed to convince the victim to withdraw all her cash in the bank and give them jewelry amounting to P170,000.

After getting the cash and jewelry, the suspects left a padlocked bag to the victim before they fled. The suspects told her that the bag was full of money and she must open it upon arrival at home. When the victim opened the bag, she discovered that it contained only bundles of paper. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
