Manila, Philippines – Government will reward employees meeting or surpassing department goals at the end of the year, President Benigno S. Aquino III said.
However, the President said the government will strictly enforce penalties, including possible dismissal, if they have unsatisfactory performance. At the 115th anniversary of the Office of the President last Thursday in Malacanang, Aquino said Budget Secretary Florencio Abad is finalizing the Productivity Incentive Program to reward employees for positive performance in a bid to motivate them to work towards an efficient bureaucracy.
The funds for the new reward system will be sourced from government savings as well as portion from oil import duties, Aquino said. “There will be recognizable goals and clear rewards yearly. It should not be a surprise at the end of the year. At the beginning of the year, you know precisely what is expected of you, and if you reach or surpass, there should a corresponding reward for good behavior,” the President said in his speech.
