CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur - Three students died Saturday afternoon after a motorcycle they were riding on collided with a passenger bus along a national highway in Barangay Panay Norte, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.
Police identified the fatalities as Louie Jay Tabag, 15, a 3rd year high school student and the motorcycle driver; Ritchel Rieta, 21; and one Richard Bael, 18, all residents of Barangay Panay Norte, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.
Investigation showed that the victims were all riding on a Honda Wave motorcycle at about 2:30 p.m., Saturday, when their vehicle collided with a passenger bus, driven by one Policarpio Ilag, 42, coming from the opposite direction.
The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival.
Police said the driver of the bus voluntarily surrendered to the police station after the accident. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
CAVITE ACCIDENT CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – A casino teller died last Saturday night after the motorcycle he was driving hit a maneuvering mini-truck on Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay San Agustin II, Dasmariñas City, the Police Provincial Ofﬁce (PPO) here reported Sunday.
The victim, Rodrigo M. Rodrin, 38, of Block 10, Lot 5 and 6, Satellite III, Alley I, Dasmariñas, succumbed to severe head and body injuries at De La Salle University Medical Center.
The truck driver one Ryan A. Galvez, 29, of Barangay Lucsuhin, Alfonso, Cavite was held at the Dasmariñas City Police Station following the accident.
Police Ofﬁcer 2 Ace Paredes, case investigator, said that the Yamaha Mio motorcycle (1665 WS) driven by Rodrin hit the right rear portion of Isuzu Dropside vehicle (RAU 547) driven by Galvez that was running backward on the middle of the highway to park at a nearby commercial establishment.
Paredes said that Galvez drove the vehicle without taking any precaution that may prevent accident. (Anthony Giron)
