Manila, Philippines – Ten collegiate teams have confirmed their participation in the Shakey’s V-League Season 9 First Conference, which will blast off on April 15 at The Arena in San Juan.
Participating squads comprised of Ateneo, Far Eastern University, National University, University of Perpetual Help and Southwestern University in Group A, and Adamson University, Letran, San Sebastian College, University of Santo Tomas and University of St. La Salle-Bacolod in Group B.
V-League commissioner Tony Liao said they invited De La Salle University to join but the latter decided to forego the conference.
Expect an action-packed conference with UST seeking for its seventh crown in the league, and Ateneo hoping to eclipse its thirdplace finish at the Open conference last September.
The Lady Eagles also came in fourth in the Southeast Asian Club Invitational in October.
“For sure this will be more exciting now that it’s on its 9th season. The teams this year are more balanced in terms of lineups,“ said Liao.
Like in the past, the upcoming conference allows each team to have two guest players and one foreign player. Teams in each group will compete in single round robin elimination.
The top 4 squads in each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
