TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – The forest rangers of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) based in Talipan, Pagbilao, Quezon confiscated several pieces of Kamagong and 26 pieces of Narra flitch in an anti-illegal logging operation in this town, it was reported yesterday.
CENR officer Alfredo Palencia said that the confiscated prime woods totalling to 658 board feet loaded in a Mitsubishi L300 with plate number DTF 560 parked in Barangay San Isidro when the environment personnel spotted the illegal logs.
Palencia added that DENR Sec. Ramon Paje declared an order for a total log ban in the country.
He added that the vehicle and the confiscated logs were impounded and deposited at the CENRO-DENR multi-sectoral checkpoint in barangay Calumpang this city.
Palencia divulged that there are some illegal log traders under the watch list of the DENR-CENRO who tend to transport illegal cut logs secretly (Danny Estacio)
