Manila, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be recruiting additional 9,000 policemen this year to improve the crime-busting capability in the country.
Director General Nicanor Bartolome, PNP chief, said the move is aimed at meeting the ideal police to population ratio in the country.
Currently, the police to community is one policeman to every 662 persons while the ideal ratio according to international standard is 1:500. ”With additional recruitment, we hope to increase the ratio to one policeman to every 620 persons,” said Bartolome. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
