TOKYO – Panasonic Corp. and Fujitus Ltd. have begun talk with Japan’s big chip maker Renesas Electronics Corp. to combine the system chip operations, local media said.
The historically strong yen and the stiff competition form South Korea and China make those chip makers to think about enhancing the competitive to keep their advanced position in the global market by integration.
The three companies are planning to establish a separate new company with investment from the government based Innovation Net Corp. and an investment fund.
Participants involved are going to reach an initial agreement by the end of March and have talks on details of the new company at the end of the business year.
Panasonic, Renesas and Fujitus aim to increase their investment ability through the integration. (Xinhua)
