Shakey’s V-League unfolds April

Manila, Philippines – Seven collegiate teams have already confi rmed their participation in the fi rst conference of the Shakey’s V-League tournament, which will blast off on April 15.

Strutting their stuff in the women’s volleyball league are multi-titled squads Ateneo, University of Santo Tomas, Adamson University and San Sebastian College, as well as Far Eastern University, National University and University of Perpetual Help.

V-League commissioner Tony Liao said yesterday they are still waiting for the confi rmation of De La Salle University, Colegio de San Jose-Recoletos of Cebu and University of St. La Salle in Bacolod to make it a 10-team conference.

Organizers gave the three teams until next week to fi nalize their participation.

Expect an action-packed conference with UST seeking for its seventh crown in the league, and Ateneo hoping to eclipse its thirdplace fi nish at the Open conference last September. The Lady Eagles also came in fourth in the Southeast Asian Club Invitational in October.

Like in the past, the upcoming conference allows each team to have two guest players and one foreign player. Teams will be divided into two groups and will compete in single round robin elimination. (K. Satumbaga)
