Super horse Gentle Irony captured the 2012 Philracom Garnet 1 Stakes Race-1st leg Imported/ Local challenge race Sunday at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.
Owned by lawyer-businessman Narciso O. Morales, Gentle Irony edged Indy Hay and former stablemate Juggling Act which placed second and third, respectively.
Gentle Irony and Juggling Act were previously owned by the late Batangas Gov. Armand Sanchez who reportedly bought them for P10 million each in Australia.
Morales purchased the two horses from Sanchez’s widow for P500,000 each.
Gentle Irony and Juggling Act went on to win all top five races in the Garnet Stakes, including the Philtobo-Bwana Bull imported trophy race.
Recently, Morales sold Juggling Act to sportsman Hermie Esguerra for P5 million.
Gentle Irony’s win earned Morales P300,000.
Indy Hay bagged P112,500, Juggling Act fetched P62,500, and fourth placer Forever My Love took P25,000.
Indy Hay and Forever My Love also belong to Morales’ stable.
A dream race featuring the country’s top horses – Magna Carta, Yes Pogi, Barkley, Humble Riches, Hagdang Bato, Indy Hay, Juggling Act and Gentle Irony – is being hatched.
