Manila, Philippines – Veteran Davis Cupper and claycourt specialist Johnny Arcilla moved a win away from clinching his sixth Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) Open Tennis Championships after trouncing Rolando Ruel Jr., 6-0, 6-3, yesterday in Paco, Manila.
The top-seeded Arcilla now awaits the winner between former Davis Cupper Patrick John Tierro and upcoming junior netter Jurence Mendoza, who are playing at presstime.
Finals matches will be played starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
Meanwhile, semifinal matches in the women’s singles blasts off today with top pick Clarice Patrimonio taking on her doubles partner Tamitha Nguyen, and second seed Marian Capadocia meeting a dangerous Mariel Ante.
