Police officer relieved over death of 3 teenagers in Pangasinan

PANGASINAN, Balungao City, Philippines – A Police Station chief was relieved from his post after the death of three teenagers in Balungao.

Senior Supt. Rosueto Ricaforte ordered the relief of Chief Inspector Johnson Smith Abellara immediately after the incident.

But despite the relief order, Abellera still assisted in the investigation on the death of three minors who were peppered with bullets.

Police identified the victims were identified as Paul Brian Villapa, 14, Brian Villapa Luna, and Mike Sapiil, all students of the Balungao National High School and residents of Barangay San Miguel, that town.

Their companion, Argie Sobrepilla, 14, was able to run away unscathed.

Yesterday, Balungao town police filed murder and attempted murder charges against suspects in the ambush-killing of three teenagers.

The victims were on their way home from a wake Friday night when armalite-wielding men waylaid them in Barangay San Raymundo in Balungao.

No less than education Secretary Armin Luistro led mourners in offering condolences to the victims’ families Saturday night.
