Vettel eyes hattrick in Singapore

SINGAPORE (AFP) – Sebastian Vettel can become the youngest man to defend a world title in this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix but Spain’s Fernando Alonso hopes to force the German to keep the champagne on ice.

Vettel, 24, will also be aiming to complete a hat-trick of wins for Red Bull, following successes in Belgium and Italy, by triumphing on the floodlit streets of the Marina Bay circuit.

But, in a long and demanding race in hot and humid conditions, he knows his title dream will not be realized easily as he has to overcome not only the physical and technical challenges, but also the determination of his rivals.

Vettel, who has 284 points after eight victories so far this season, holds a huge lead of 112 points over Alonso of Ferrari.
